Porcelain veneers are a thin, semi-translucent laminate permanently bonded to your teeth. While they’re not suitable for every patient, porcelain veneers are the most aesthetic alternative for a variety of dental conditions involving the front teeth, including:
- Diastemas (spaces between teeth)
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Unsightly, stained or washed out fillings
- Permanently stained or discolored teeth that can’t be bleached
- Crooked teeth
At the first appointment with Dr. Nguyen, the teeth are prepared for the dental veneers and an impression is taken. This impression is then sent to a lab where each porcelain veneer is custom made to the Dr. Nguyen's specifications. Beautiful temporaries (temporary dental veneers) are fabricated to simulate your new smile so you can expect to leave the first appointment looking better than when you came in. At the second appointment the new porcelain veneers are permanently adhered to the natural teeth.
Your veneers will look great and are extremely durable. However, once porcelain veneers are applied just treat them like natural teeth. Behaviors such as nail biting, opening bobby pins, and chewing on hard objects should be avoided and maintaining regular oral hygiene is essential to ensuring your new cosmetic veneers will look as good as new.
Transforming your smile couldn’t be any easier. In just 2 office visits, Lumineers offer the way to a beautiful and natural white smile. It's the painless cosmetic alternative to veneers for stained, chipped, discolored or misaligned teeth.
Lumineers are similar to a contact lens in that it is placed over existing teeth. Unlike traditional veneers, the process is completely reversible since there’s no grinding or shaving of the existing tooth enamel. Dr. Nguyen can evaluate whether you are a good candidate Lumineers. Should they be a good fit, a precision mold will be taken so your custom-made Lumineers can be crafted from patented Cerinate porcelain. On your second visit, the Lumineers are checked for fit and shade-then they’re attached. It's completely painless and you'll get the natural, white smile you’ve always wanted.
Dr. Nguyen will recommend that you avoid certain foods and beverages as they may stain your veneers, like coffee and red wine. While traditional veneers are thin, they are thicker and sturdier than Lumineers. Talk with Dr. Nguyen to see whether veneers or Lumineers are best for your situation.
